Penile Curvature

Penile curvature, also known as Peyronie's disease, is a condition that can be congenital or acquired, leading to both aesthetic and functional problems. It is generally characterized by plaque buildup in the penis and abnormal curvature during erection.

Penile curvature can cause pain during intercourse, difficulty with penetration, and erectile dysfunction over time. This can negatively affect both a person's quality of sexual life and their psychological well-being. At Androzon Clinic, surgical and non-surgical treatment options for penile curvature are planned individually for each patient. While drug treatments or methods such as ESWT (shockwave therapy) are preferred for mild curvatures, surgical correction operations may be performed for more severe curvatures. Penile curvature can be controlled with accurate diagnosis and expert approach. At our clinic, we offer our patients safe and lasting solutions.

Penile prosthesis (penis implant) surgery is a surgical procedure that should only be performed by specialist urologists in sterile operating room conditions. The surgery is usually performed under spinal or general anesthesia, and its duration can vary depending on the patient’s condition.

During the procedure, a small incision is made in the underside of the penis or in the lower abdomen. Through this incision, access is gained to the spongy tissues (corpora cavernosa) inside the penis that enable erection. Penile implants of appropriate size, according to the patient’s needs and preferred prosthesis type, are then placed into these chambers.

If an inflatable (2 or 3-piece) prosthesis is chosen, the other parts of the system are also installed:

  • The pump and valve are placed inside the scrotum.

  • The reservoir is placed behind the abdominal wall (only in 3-piece systems).

After the prosthesis is inserted, the incisions are carefully closed, and the surgery is concluded.

Postoperative pain, swelling, or bruising may occur, but these symptoms are usually short-lived. Pain relievers are prescribed for pain management, and antibiotics are given to prevent infection. Most patients can be discharged within a few days, but full recovery takes approximately 4-6 weeks.

During this period, strenuous exercise, sexual intercourse, and physical activities that may put pressure on the prosthesis should be avoided. Following check-ups by the doctor and information on how to use the prosthesis, the individual can confidently return to their sexual life.

With the right patient selection, an experienced surgeon, and careful postoperative follow-up, penile prosthesis surgery offers a permanent and satisfying solution for men experiencing erectile dysfunction.
